friday fizz, the fourth

My friend Jessica has this really genius company called POP n’ wedLOCK, through which she teaches choreographed dances for weddings(!). She and her business partner got some fantastic press this week, and I wanted to share it.

My mom keeps telling me I need to read The Help. And I will; I swear. When, someday, I start reading fiction again. In the meantime, I loved this article about Kathryn Stockett, the book’s author. And the fact that she was turned down sixty — SIXTY — times before finding a literary agent. And she obsessively revised the book many times during that period.

Lost Type is a pay-what-you-like type foundry. I think my favorite here is Pompadour.

Roseanne Barr has a fabulous article in New York Magazine this week. Read it if you have any interest at all in feminism or show business.

Scrabble. Oh boy, do I love Scrabble.

I’m extremely smitten with Brooke Burton (a.k.a. @FoodWoolf)’s bio.

Mary has gotten very into running lately, and she shared this great article with me the other day. I love it because it can apply to pretty much anything (like writing, for example), not just running.  “I am a runner because I value and respect my body. It will whisper to me when I’ve done too much. And if I choose to listen to that whisper, my body won’t have to scream in pain later on.”

Sam Orchard has a mind-blowingly fantastic new comic entitled Queer 101, all about gender and sexuality, and their many permutations and intersections.

Aaand here are some mismatched socks. Just for good measure.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
